Reversed Cards

Many readers read a reversed 'yes' card as 'yes, but with delays' and a reversed 'no' card as 'not yet' or 'the obstacle is fading'. Keep it simple at first — see reversed cards explained.

How Context Changes the Answer

A 'no' card isn't always bad news. Death might say 'no' to staying in a job — but 'yes' to a better future elsewhere. Likewise, The Sun is a strong yes, but if surrounded by cautionary cards, it may mean 'yes, once you deal with these issues'. Always read the question and surrounding cards, not just the label.

Minor Arcana Quick Rules

  • Aces and most Wands: lean yes.
  • Fives and many Swords: lean no.
  • Twos, Sevens and Hanged-Man-like cards: lean maybe.
  • Cups: usually yes for emotional questions.
