Name one habit you want to loosen and replace it with something better.

Ask a reader

What am I tied to that I could let go of?

Quick Meaning

The Devil shows two figures chained — loosely. It's about attachments, addictions and patterns that feel impossible to escape but actually aren't. It invites honesty about what's controlling you.

Reversed Meaning

Reversed, you're breaking free: noticing the chain is the first step to removing it.

The Devil in Love

Intense chemistry, obsession or an unhealthy dynamic. Ask if this connection makes you freer or smaller.

The Devil for Money & Career

Impulse spending, debt or overwork. Look at what money habits keep you stuck.

Yes or No?

In a yes-or-no reading, The Devil usually means no. Its energy suggests the situation needs to change before a yes is possible. See the full yes or no tarot cards list.

The Devil in a Pick-a-Pile

In a pick-a-pile, The Devil asks your pile to notice what's holding it back. Try our free pick-a-pile readings.

Make a Short Reading Count

If The Devil shows up in a paid reading, ask the reader: “What am I tied to that I could let go of?” It turns a general card meaning into advice about your situation — and saves minutes of back-and-forth.
